Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program (AFLSP) – Kyoto University
The Asian Future Leaders
Scholarship Program (AFLSP) offers
exceptional young scholars from across Asia the opportunity to pursue higher
education at one of eight
prestigious Partner Universities, including Kyoto University in Japan.
About the Program
Established in 2014 by Mr. Ronald K. Y. Chao, Vice Chairman of Novel Holdings Ltd. (Hong
Kong), and administered by the Bai Xian Asia Institute (BXAI), the AFLSP aims to nurture future leaders who value cross-cultural understanding, mutual respect,
and regional harmony across Asia.
Each year, BXAI awards up to 100 scholarships to outstanding students from Asia. Every
Partner University conducts its own independent selection process for the
AFLSP.

The AFLSP at Kyoto
University provides one of
Japan’s most prestigious scholarships, offering:
- A two-year full scholarship (approx. ¥200,000/month — amount may vary depending on exchange rates)
- Admission and tuition fees fully covered
- Access to an exclusive professional enrichment program designed to develop leadership and global
competence
Eligible Countries/Regions
Students from the following countries and regions are eligible to
apply:
Bangladesh, Bhutan,
Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos,
Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines,
Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam
